Usually when I do a screen capture, I will press the Print Scrn button a few times, to insure I have actually taken the capture.
Now that you have your screen capture, you will need to open an image editing program, such as Paint.

Paint can be found by:

*Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint

Then click Edit ( at the top ) then paste
or simply press ctrl+v ( paste )

After you have done your editing, and probably the most important part of image editing, is saving it.
When you click File > Save As
under the file name .........
is Save as type.
click the drop down menu box and save as JPEG file format

saving as it currently is, a BMP will be a very large file size and not something one would post onto the Web.
if you are using the image for something else, such as for a flash object, you save it as BMP.
