There are a number of Texas holdem strategies that one can employ when playing this version of poker, whether online or offline.

The most basic is to play with a loose bias or a tight bias or, put more simply, whether to:
- Take a lot of risks and raise a lot for the big payoff on the long shot or- Play a more conservative game and fold often.
The risk with the first is losing all your money quickly. The risk with the second is to slowly lose your money and deny yourself opportunities to win.

The best Texas holdem strategies will involve bluffing. You cannot simply win by relying on the strength of cards because poker is a game of both probabilities and psychology. When you do bluff, make sure that your opponent does not know because if he/she does -- you are rumbled and they will have the upper hand.
