Signed up a while back but kinda stopped playing for a while.

Tried to get back in the game and realized how I play. I ended up reading up a lot on the internet and I started seeing a lot about the software out there to help people with their game.

Anyway I noticed the gap in the PKR side of things and decided to try and do something about it.

I have started a massive project to create a tool similar to Poker Tracker, but I think without all of that functionality (at least for now).

I have a decent amount of it working, although there is still a to do list the length of my arm before I am happy to think about releasing it.

The reason of my post I to scope out what you people think.

I have a couple of questions.

Firstly pertaining to whether to charge for such an application, I'm tending to yes - but nothing too expensive. Just something to justify the 100s of hours I've spent already (over 3 months - my girlfriends going crazy about this).

Secondly, what are the most important features that people would want in such an application?

Thirdly, would anyone participate in a beta release when I get round to it, as a reward would a free license be sufficient to lure some of you to test for me?

Just a note there is no website set up yet -but I will get this done soon to aid in this process, and ultimately gear up for a beta.

Any comments feedback would be greatly appreciated,

It would be very cool if you could implement a function to graph your wins or losses.

hmm, i think that some kind of PKR "PokerOffice" would be nice..

i wouldnt be to creativ... just stick with the features and make it available for PKR

and i would "volunteer" for beta-tester

I think you could charge a nominal fee if it's good. I also think you can get plenty of testers from this forum.

Also, if you want to beta test with members on here, I will need you to post the file on the forum. I can create a special forum just for your group.

There have been many attacks on poker players with the use of key loggers and trojan horses. It would be irresponsible of me to just let you send files to members.

In that case I completely agree, I didn't realize there have been attacks. Yes I think when I am ready to release a beta and expect people to download (probably only for pkr-nation people) then I will go via the route that you have suggested.

Other than that I am not sure how else to provide security for people that my software will be completely legit, especially with no spyware and other garbage that seems to riddle the internet these days. If anyone has any other suggestions.

That's why I suggested a special forum with access only to those testing for you, etc. That way the file will be visible to everyone and we can check for those types of things.

Please understand that I'm just protecting our members and this has no reflection on you or your character. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Yeah I didn't realize exactly how technical pokeroffice/tracker really are until I started this project. But I do intend to make my software easy to use and flexible.
