Question Winning a PKR Freeroll... skill involved?.

Yesterday I won my first Freeroll. I just started playing the PKR tournaments about two weeks ago now and I've obviously made some progression in the standings. But my question is, does winning a $10 Freeroll take any skill, I mean is it a reflection at all on my No Limit Texas Hold'em skills at all?. And be honest. I know PKR can be a fish tank.

congrads....and

sure it takes some skill, as well as luck

Although you must look at the big picture... when it comes to skill and poker
are you consistantly starting to see cash outs...

I'd call it semi-consistently. The only problem I find with Freerolls are that they are ssooo big. I mean, most of the time you're just trying to hold on and not make any stupid moves. Obviously you have to play it differently. But what would happen if everyone was forced to play hands like they normally would and not become so tight?.

i've only just returned to playing MTT's as I'd originally found them to be damaging to my bankroll.. and have cashed in on the last 2 that i'd played. I've changed immensely from when I played them before and am certainly more patient than in the past which seems to be one of the keys to unlocking the cash..!!

I generally dont like freerolls much since their very big and thus will take lots of time and opponents dont have anything to loose. In my book the first hour or so in a freeroll you just sit and wait for hands to go all in with since there always will be some that do that. And doesnt take much skill to do that. In the late stage its almost normal poker since people begin to realize that they stand to gain something. So ye i would say winning a free roll takes some fair skill and lot of luck. Id say you got alot of patience playing for hmm like 5 hours to gain like 3 dollars and it will serve you well should you play for own money in the future.

Congrats on your win.

Thanks Sheidar. Yeah sometimes they take awhile. The one I won went just under four hours. But as you said, the first part of the tournament is really, really tight playing if you actually know what you're doing and then you have to put up with all the "all-in" players who pretty much do that with every hand they get. But yeah, the final part and especially the final table is decent poker in my mind. Many good players there.

Thanks Ass.

Mind checking my profile on PKR and let me know what you think about my results?. For every once I've placed, the next I usually don't, just to give you a rough idea.

And do you mind if I ask your real name?. I feel horrible calling you Ass, etc. LOL!.

actually its easier to call me Ass or Assit, as my real name is AJ and that gets confusing in the poker world.

your freerolls stats are very good, although it will take some time to build a bankroll @ $10 Freerolls.

just try to keep pluging away at them, and save that little bit of cash till u get more before you hit a cash table.. infact I would suggest you save till about $10, then do some low buy-in tournaments.
