By slowed down I mean, do you think it would be helpful or beneficial to give players a longer allotted period of time to make their actions?. Obviously that's one of the main differences between live and online poker, but would say, ten more seconds, etc. be that much of an inconvenience to those that enjoy the speed of the online game?.

This question comes based on my inability to quickly, and accurately, calculate the required odds, etc. when playing online. I am obviously working on my poker math, and hopefully some time in the near future, the speed of online poker will no longer be a problem so to speak, but I'm also asking this question theoretically. I was thinking along the lines that adding some more time would make the online experience a little more like a live game. Allowing players that have the skills and knowledge to go through their routine and put together the best decision that they can.

i personally like a much quicker game more hands per hour etc.

i think what we need is the option off speed tables and regular tables in the lobby and like you say mac also the option to sit at a table that has a slightly longer turn time.

so for example we could have speed tables with a 10 sec limit,regular tables with a 20 sec limit and then the slower tables with a 30 sec limit.

at the moment on betfair poker when u play in tourneys theres a timebank button you can hit when you need that extra bit of time,hit it and you get 30 more seconds to make your decision.

Sounds like a nice compromise to me.

And I didn't know; is twenty seconds the standard time alloted?.

yeah its genarally around 15-20 seconds,it varys from site to site really

i think its fine how it is, although im not one that will sit there and think of pot odds and the math of it all so that might be why i guess, i like the fact that online you can play so many hands per hour its awesome.


I have noticed that on PKR sometimes when ppl are taking their time to decide what to do that the time bar that goes down sometimes onoly goes down once before it will fold them and other times it can go 3-4 times, anyone know why that is?

I think what you might be seeing are players that are disconnected. The "timer" seems to jump around when that happens. I could very easily be wrong here though...
