Memorable moments: Putting 1/2 my stack in on A9 off in desparation. Praying for A9 on the flop and getting A9! then got 2 all in callers. Then hit another 9 on the turn :-)

Getting on the final table with 30,000 and the leader was on half a mil and evryone else on 100k or more. Going heavy on 88, getting called, hitting trips 8 on the flop and slow playing it to the river. calling, raised, reraised by me then all in and I meet the all in.

Heads up. I resist meeting an all in with my Q3 suited. Later, it feels right and I call an all in with Q6 off suit (By feel, i mean the all in didnt make sense). She has Q5 - I win!

Awesome and I'm on a high (and $66 better off!) :-)

It's funny - it's done my confidence no end of good. I was aware my game was above average, but I was still making rookie mistakes - Weak raises, innapropriate limping, calling all-ins without checking who the blinds were, and worst of all, predictable play - either going loose and then not varying my game - and hence getting absolutley everything called or raised, or playing too tight and letting everyone steal my chips with big raises against me. Last night I really concentrated and it payed off.

The best bit is I don't remember any moments where I did a total coin toss. Everything was calculated as much as was possible. There was a hairy moment when I thought I'd lost most of my stack to 2 all-in calls but iut turned out I made the right choice and they had weak hands they'd played due to being on the blinds.

Congrats - It's always harder to win a freeroll aswell (in my opinion) because the fields nearly always max runners and ocourse you get a lot more fish. I also won a premium freeroll 2 days ago and was more happy about this than some of my other wins.
I just gotta say you talk a good game and seem to know what your going on about so I'm sure this will be the first of many - we may be seeing more of you at the tables

thx matey. It's such a mind bender! You think you have the grip on a new concept, then you execute it incorrectly! I don't expect to be amazing in 3 months, but it becomes clear fairly quickly that there is no substitute for experience - which I lack.

I still lose on cash tables. I have a mental problem with it being real, limitless cash. I'm moving up to larger SNGs though as I'm finding the games no tougher but with better rewards. However, if you make a big mistake in betting, you don't half get hung ! lol - and executing traps has to be done sooo carefully!.

Gotta do more cash games. 1000 points off a 50 buck bonus so I guess I'll just have to suck it up and get on with it.

I know exactly what you mean. It hurts when you sit down and build a nice stack, just to lose it all on one hand. It hurts even more when you lose it to a donkey that was chasing and catches his card on the river.

Start at the lower limits as you learn to play cash games. Cash play and tournament play are fundamentally different.
