I could just as easily say 'all poker rooms are rigged'. Neither statement is proven fact as we don't have any real evidence to back them up, all we can do is speculate.
And there has been some dodgy stuff at certain poker sites. The recent scandal at Absolute poker for example, where the guy won a big money tournie and was supposedly cheating by seeing all the hole cards throughout the game, apparently he was an ex company exec who had access to the cheat codes or something. I don't see any harm in debating this subject. |

Im not saying PKR is rigged, but would most definately agree there is more bad beats etc on there than most other sites. Luck seems to come in 'streaks' but more than often, its bad ones. |

Evidence please... No really there is no proof it is or isn't but it's good to talk about.I think it's strange that every poker has his own patterns on how cards come down, that's the only reason that makes me doubt a little that it's not really random. If you play alot on alot of different pokersites, you can easily see things that are alot more common on 1 site then another. For example, full tilt has a flush over flush situation way more often then pkr for example. It's things like that what makes me have some doubt about the randomness of the cards. |

I agree with much of what you're saying.
The thing I don't understand is why do sites seem to find it so difficult to get a good RNG in place? How hard can it be to get a truly random selection of 52 cards out? Random number generation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

This debate will never end will it?
No PKR is not rigged, no big online poker site is rigged. Want an argument, here's one for you. How does any poker site make money if you lose yours? Actually if I were to rig a poker site, it would be to benefit the small player. Why? Because I want as many players playing as possible. The more players playing, the more rake I collect. It's a poker site people, not a casino. They only make money when you play and win. As for RNG's, most poker sites are built on the Microsoft RNG. On top of that many of them add things like an extra shuffle just to make it more random. Do patterns emerge? Maybe, but it's still random. Or maybe you're just playing so many hands that it seems like there are patterns that really don't exist.

"no big online poker site is rigged."
That is both naive and ignorant. 2 of the largest 12 poker sites have recently been done for cheating so get with the programme. absolute poker was a disgrace and if having the ability to see other hole cards isnt being rigged then I dont know what is. I also know another site that cheats because I have been into the office, spoken with thier staff (after a few beers) and basically kept my eyes open. This is a site that I was employed by as a prop. 300 regular players and ran out of a small crappy office in the middle of nowhere. The top 2 or 3 sites are properly organised, commisioned, have big audience, media etc. In reality these are unlikely to cheat for the aforementioned reasons. But with thousands of sites, including bookmaker types being overseen by regular staff with access to these 'priveledges on some crumby corner ppc somewhere then it comes to down to individuals many times if not the owners themselves. Yes there is cheating, yes there are rigged sites. Yes There are sites with good ethics and there are sites with more to lose than gain. I would really stick to the major sites. Most players, most publicity, big name poker players. Biggest selections of games, biggest tournaments. Why would you choose to play at anything other than that? |
