OMG, my first post and you call me a Hijacker !!!

Im a mod for a forum and i would have just moved the dam post to the correct section and advised accordigly.

The fact that its PKR related and the fact the SOFTWARE STINKS i thought i would add my experience.

Guess my first experience on the forums has been the same as the software and the customer services.

Paddy, dont mind Ass. Theres a reason we call him Ass, and no, it has nothing to do with that being the first 3 letters of his name, trust me.

In a heads up situation ,ive gone all-in with anything because i wanted to come 2nd either cause the 2nd place paid and 1st went through to next round, but unfortunately i won everytime, also fortunte sometimes. Anyway having an ACE doesent quarantee winning as the Kicker card usually gets beat by any pair ,and if u end up with nothing on the table even a 2 can beat u if paired up. I dont know exact odds for that hand but it must have been 50/50 chance of winning.

Default Thank you for this thread!!!

I started playing on PKR back in December of last year and was a complete fish/noob/calling station. I would call to the river with just about anything, and got lucky alot. After getting reemed out all the tine for what I now know were complete bonehead moves, I started reading up on poker and strategy, thinking it would make me some money and be able to get some great entertainment for free.

To my surprise I started losing, alot!!! At first I chalked it up to a run of bad luck, but it kept getting worse and worse. And of course I was blaming everyone and everything but myself. I was experiencing "unlikely beats" all the time.

So I took a break from online poker and started playing in some home games and live events, and I was actually doing pretty well.
I screwed up my ankle pretty good a couple weeks ago and decided to come back to pkr, it was the same thing all over again. I had loads of time to kill but not that much cash so i stayed on the micro limit tables, and playing multis everyday.

The "unlikely" and bad beats were happening pretty frequently, and i was getting more and more frustrated. I was as upset as some of the posters to this section of the forum and was gonna add my 2 cents and give up on pkr.

While calming down with a couple of beers and reading the posts, I realised that I was taking it way too seriously. I was looking for entertainment but instead was letting it piss me off.

I played tight aggressive and was getting so upset after being patient and waiting for a hand only to have it beat quite regularly by what i would consider a crap hand.
And then in serious poker the way to play a really loose table is to play tight aggressive, but not when the players are playing for fun!!!!! Especially in micro limit. There are quite a few players on pkr who like nothing more than to beat u with crap, thats their entertainment. And what better place for them to do it than the cheap tables. So I made book on these players and see them an awful lot. I cannot tell u how satisfying it is to shut them up by junking in using their own game against them. double inside str8s are my personal fav.
I cant remember the original poster but whoever it was that suggested tuning your game, to limit those players opportunities, THANK YOU!

That was on the 28th. 8 MTT'S played with 6 money finishes since.

the unlikely beats still happen and i still go on tilt, but im having way more fun. And that was the point in the first place.

i do agree on the point that 9 out of 10 times the worst hand wins on pkr.
But i dont consider them as badbeats

couchslouch i agree 100 percent with what you say.
When i was a donk i seem to get 10x more luck on pkr then when i make the right moves and good calls. like yesterday i got a donkey on tilt because of a great call. next hand he raises 10$ preflop on 0,25/0,50 stakes so i folded, but he kept doing that raising 10$ preflop an instant allin on the flop.
So i got dealt Ad/10d and i just called the 10$ thinking he is on tilt and i was right.
The flop came down 10 high so i've hit top pair, top kicker and he went allin.
I had to think it over but i called and he shows K/2 so i was right.
But i quess you cant ever be right since a king came on the turn and on the river as if one wasnt enough..........sick when you play great and lose that's really /typical with pkr.

I think this is just an incorrect assumption. The reason it seems like the worst hand always wins is that you never see the best hand win or you just ignore it.

As an example, imagine I call the turn with a straight draw against you and you already have 2 pairs. I miss it on the river and you still have 2 pairs. You bet, I fold, but you never see my cards. This win will most likely not register as 'The best hand won' in your mind. In fact, you probably won't remember it at all. Just take the chips and move on. Now a few hands later, we have the same scenerio, except this time I hit the straight on the river. You bet, I raise, you call. You see I rivered a straight, realise you were ahead on the turn, and call me a fish . This will now stay in you mind as 'The worst hand won'.

Now there could be another 10 hands involving other players where the best hand held up, but because you don't see the losing cards and it all seems normal with a river bet winning, you simply ignore it and carry on playing. So here we have the best hand winning 11 times, the worst hand sucking out once, but the only one that sticks in your mind is the one time you lost to my river suckout.

If this happened a second time and once again you lost a load of chips to a suckout, now your mind becomes completely biased to the fact that the worst hand always wins, despite the fact the best hand is in the lead by 11 games to 2.

You also have to decide a point at which the hand is considered the 'worst' hand. For instance, I had the miss-fortune to get dealt A-A in the very first hand of a $5 SnG on PKR. My raise was met by someone pushing all-in. I called, as did another player.

One guy who pushed all-in had Q-Q, the other had 8-9 off suit (he was obviously there to just gamble with this crazy call). So, pre-flop I had the best hand. The flop was 8-x-x, so I still had the best hand on the flop. Turn was a 9. Now 8-9 has the best hand on the turn. The river was a blank and the 8-9 trebled up. So here, where do you define the 'best hand won' or the 'worst hand won'? If you count it from the flop or pre-flop, then the best hand lost. If you count it from the turn, then the best hand won. And if an Ace came on the river to give me trip aces, did the best hand win or the worst hand win?

What I am basically saying is that I refuse to believe that the 'worst hand always wins'.

very well put Trueform, you're on your way to becoming a very very good poker player.

It seems the hardest thing for new players to learn is that there are bad beats and there are times you just get outdrawn. Accepting that this WILL happen will make you a better player and will keep you off tilt.

CouchSloutch, when playing micro limits, many players think of it like a small buyin home game. In other words, if you fold preflop then you're a pussy and theres always someone who plays the sheriff and tries to keep the table honest. Sometimes, the sheriff will catch his miracle card and win, just like in home games. Realizing this is a big step towards winning more pots.
