In fairness, the only reason I am on PKR at present is that once you get tuned into playing "The PKR way" you can make a mint.
About 70-80% of the players IMO are only there for a laugh, or to play in tourneys - its quite clear its not a site to be on if you are serious about poker/looking for a challange. Hence why I stay to build my bankroll and milk these guys dry. If you look at the real money tables, after 0.5/1 the tables are dead, a few folk play 1/2 but thats about it. The majority of players play the lower stakes, particularly 0.10/0.25 which is fine to start out on (like I did), but your not really gonna make much money - albeit perhaps over a long period of time. Its not really for the serious/typical poker player. Again - I will not comment on the RNG of PKr etc or anything else, but consider this: This is just a sample, and yes, I know, I know the usual questions will be asked about how many hands were played per hour/how many mucked hands were there etc etc but: I played for 2 hours on Party Poker today, and in that 2 hours I played 31 hands (Eg - I got at least to the flop.), I am a tight aggressive player, but I played a mixture of good cards in comparison to position/who was on the blinds, as well as mixing it up every now and then with pre flop raises. Of the 31 hands I played - there were no more than 5 people involved - on average in a flop (usually when everyone limps.) The average was about 3 players involved in a hand - although usualyl a pre flop raise created heads up only action, or often the entire table would fold. Compare that with PKR where you are usualyl involved in 8 way flops - and a pre flop raise seems to mean nothing to the other players. (I'm not berating PKR - this is juat my opinion, and based on my experiences.). I never once saw crazy all in pre flop fests like it was a tourney, and, as often happens on PKR AA VS KK VS QQ etc - where the chances of that are slim. In a well known Poker TV sereis in America, there are a group of pros who play for at least 8 hours a day over a 21 day period, with the highlights shown to viewers. Over that 21 days, there was only AA VS KK VS JJ etc 3 times in that 3 week period. You will probably see these confrontations every few hours on PKR. The odds of these hands coming up against each other are fairly large, so for them to constantly happen on a frequent day to day basis is unbelievable imo. Of those 31 hands, I won 25 of them - 13 of them through naked or semi bluffs. Of the 12 where I did have a hand, these were made up of 9 pairs or 2 pairs where the board paired, 1 straight and 2 sets. Throughout the whole 2 hours I saw only 2 straights (including my own) and one flush. Compare that with PKR where straights, flushes and full houses happen every 10 minutes. In 1 game on PKR I counted 119 straights over a 4 hour period. I dont even know how you would work out the odds on that. And finally - with regards to the 31 hands I did play, only 1 of them was a PP in that time (44). I was only dealt "Premium cards" 4 times (AK,AQ,KQ,AK) and had no high PP's.........think how often you are dealt PP's and premium hands in PKR. My overall point is that PKR is uniquely (sp) different from any other site I have played on, and I mean that nor negatively or positively - but you can clearly see there is something vastlly different here, and in my opinion PKR is more a site for someone who doesnt mind throwing their money away as long as they have a good time, and is for entertainment purposes....that can surely be shown in the way in which the its pretty obvious the hole cards and flops are geared for action....how often on PKr at the end of a river do you see one player with a flush, one with a set and one with a full house....if all 3 players have these hands they will all be right in assuming they have the best hand and will pile the money in. Vastly different in comparison to Party Poker where its a game of actual poker - playing your opponent, and watching their play for patterns etc, trying to outdo them. On Party Poker I can mix it up and raise with 67 suited and play a bout - try that on PKR and you will get 5 callers who will call you no matter what. Again - these are my opinions and observations. I will continue at present anyways to play on PKR because it does provide a me with large opportunities to increase my bankroll due to the relatively easy difficulty level, and i do enjoy it to a large extent. I do apologise if anything i have said is out of line, again this is only my opinion and based on my PKR experiences - perhaps some of the things I have said above with regards to PKR may also be familiar with some experiences other players have had, or they may now notice these things compared to how poker is on other sites, and in the real world. |

Last night I played a $5 STT on PKR on my left screen and a $6 STT (same thing, fee included) on PP on my right screen. Was very interesting to watch the differences.
I was getting about 3 hands on PP to one on PKR. PKR was full of rantings and chat - dont' get me wrong the chat can be fun occasionally. I ran up against lots of massive raises on PKR 4 people were out on PKR when 9 remained on PP (3 x more hands too remember) (I took three of them out in one hand with a broadway hehe) The blinds on PP were still at 60 when they were 150 on PKR. I actually got 1st on PKR and bombed out 6th on PP - just didn't get any cards at all. Chalk and cheese really. I'm still finding PKR funny when it's late and I fancy a flutter. |

I don't understand all this nonsense.. PKR have placed themselves in one of the toughest jurisdictions in the world - if they really were skewing the RNG or lying about its randomness then they would be breaking the law and they would be caught.
As for the whole 'Entertainment Poker' thing - that's just nonsense. For the following reasons: 1. Most things in life will fall into more than one category so it is actually possible that something can be entertaining and productive. 2. You claim that "once you get tuned into playing "The PKR way" you can make a mint".. surely this is an indication that poker at PKR is better - not worse? 3. You claim that you get 'too many callers'. Maybe you need to change your table image a tiiiiiny bit? Because I don't suffer this problem at all |
