Default Still crazy at PKR

I just withdrew my last funds from PKR. Had just a little bit left and thought I'd give it a go at the cash tables to kill a bit of boredom. I'm still scratching my head at some of the hands, bad players or not. It brought home the reason I started looking elsewhere to be honest. My last hand played was flopping a set with a pocket pair. No flush draws or straight draws or paired board by the river so thought I was home and dry. lol, no sir. There's always a bigger set to beat you. I'd forgotten how bad trips play there (although obviously not for the other guy) and I was trying to play like I do on FT. It's when you see stuff like that it other wonderful hands (saw ace flush get crushed by quads and a few other crazy hands, all in 30 minutes) it's no wonder that some of the comments come out.

Anyway, I've said plenty already about it. Good luck in your tourney thingies. I'll pop in now and again to read a few threads, but now PKR isn't really part of my game I guess using PKR Nation would a bit hypercritical. lol

The hand of the tournament came during the gripping heads-up battle between Marc Goodwin and Gus Hansen. Goodwin raised pre flop from the big blind with A 8, only to be called by Hansen’s 5 4 of diamonds (small suited connectors being his trade mark hand). The flop came down 5 5 8, trips versus two pair. Both players heart rates slowed down, both believing they had the better hand. Goodwin checked, trying to set a trap for the Dane who, knowing he was ahead casually tapped the felt. Fourth Street revealed a second 8, giving both players a full house.

Commentators James Hartigan and Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson saw a disaster unfolding before them and quickly quoted ‘All the chips are going in here’. Not a single sign of emotion came across either player as they checked to the river, an irrelevant 4. After a few seconds of silence Marc reached out and placed $40,000 over the line, only to be re-raised another $60,000. After a brief moment of quiet reflection, Marc announced ‘All In’, a move which surprised no one but the Great Dane himself. Hansen sat back in his chair, sipped some water and played out the hand over and over in his head, occasionally muttering something inaudible to himself.

But watching good players on TV and also on the net, it is actually how you play, I was beaten yesterday with a great straight by quad 7s. I didn't get angry because Iv'e seen it on the box a few times. Dude thats just poker, you can't tell me it hasn't gone your way either. As I said in another post, my new statergy is if you think they are going to call and get a tin arse win, they will.

Well my original post, as you might see, was in June. My views about PKR (and online poker in general) have changed since then and I am back there playing happily. I went through the conspiracy phase but that has now passed. Please ignore these early posts by me becuase they do not reflect what I think now

That's copyright infringement mate - I'm Dodgey - the word you are looking for is "Dodgy" - you owe me a lot of money - see you in court!
