Hey dude, here’s the latest:


For the past 2 weeks some players were experiencing table freezing. Some of the problems were the fault of the individual networks that players were using but we also identified a problem on our end.


Without going into specifics there was a problem with our ability to transmit player’s info in a timely manner. As a network & not just a site, we receive & transmit massive amounts of real-time player info from multiple partner sites. Some of this information was getting clogged up in the line & this caused some player’s tables to ‘freeze’ or ‘hang’. We’ve done 4 new client releases this week & seem to have solved the problem. This was a situation that we simply couldn’t test in a simulated environment prior to actually experiencing it. On the flip side this also means that we are really starting to take off & grow exponentially. We’re also finally able to get back to building & enhancing the game itself. We’ve got a lot of new features in store that will be released in the next few months.




I figured it had something to do with the integration with some of their skins, but didn't want to speculate. This believe the problem is fixed. If any of you have any issues, please let me know and I will get them the message.

Cake can be a little "unpredictable" - I've found I've sat at a tournie table and missed one or two hands before but that's not happened for ages now. Them recently, I had an issue where my call raise and fold buttons simply dissapeared! - cash games fortunately - had it been tournaments I'd have gone spare.

Each time I remove cake and reinstall to solve it. No problems for a while now touch wood. The fish do make it compulsory viewing! - though I warn those with limited experience like myself - playing donks is a bit of a black art - it's very easy to get drawn into their mad play and get stung - just be patient and pick your moments!

The other great thing abotu cake is the way they present their tournament screen - I wish everyone else would copy it! - You see all the tournies with dates and times, but those starting in the next hour show not the date and time but the amount of time till they start - i.e. you see something like

Nov 2, 11:00 blah blah blah rebuy
Nov 2, 13:30 blah blah blah rebuy
Nov 2, 14:00 blah blah blah NL
4 Mins - 10$ NL
20 Mins - 20$ Bounty
Nov 3 12:00 blah blah NL 20$

So it's really easy to see what's coming up soon without trawling though loads of duff, and you don't need to worry about constantly checking with their particular timezone to see where you are at. All the other sites, and particularly FT are a total nightmare to see whats upcoming.

I've joined Carbon for the half price SnGs - I'm wating after 15 mins so far and only got 8 players....

I have the latest update and it still crashes on me every 10-15 minutes. It doesn't hang like they describe, it actually still plays. I can also still do actions and in fact can carry on playing. But there is no sound and the annoying pop up box keeps jumping up, asking if I want to send info to Microsoft. I click 'Don't Send' and it shuts Cake down.

It could be something to do with my system, but I have no idea what and this doesn't happen with any other software I have installed so I'm baffled

I'll pass this info on to Cake and see what they say. It could be your system. as for a fix, I'm clueless. I keep having an issue with google. It keeps loading in Chinese for some stupid reason and I haven't yet figured a fix for it.

Yep - Carbon seems a little busier (only a little) than cake. They seem in the same ball park. I found the players in the SnGs to be very easy to read so far.

The half price juice is fairly pointless when you are in 10$ and up games, particularly considering we are getting not dissimilar rakeback from FT, but then 200% bonus is very tasty.

One wonders what the rooms have to do to retain customers when there are so many sites now, and you can keep site hopping when your initial bonus is fulfilled and the reload is nowhere near as good.

Dodgey, the reload bonuses on Carbon are actually some of the best online. They have them about once a month and usually send it in an email.

An update on the Cake aspect of this thread. - Really, trust me, honestly - there is no other room like it! - Nation has mentioned it several times, and it's a fact - the quality of players at low stakes is unreal!

Yet again, I sat at a table (5/10c) on a Friday night and turned 10$ into $40 on my second hand! They call any raise, no matter what you do! I landed pocket rockets, raised 8xBB (that's the MINIMUM you need to raise to get any kind of reaction). Got 5 callers. Pushed all in on the flop (meaningless flop). 4 called! I won. The best opposition was a pair of Jacks. The rest were hands like JQ off, or A8 off.

You need to be ready for some big downturns on your bankroll - all this loose calling results in a few painful suckouts of course. But if you can be uber tight and just play group 1&2 hands you should come out smiling.

I've learnt about Cake low stakes

a) Don't drink. The rest of the table are almost certainly all drunk and they'll call your all-in bluff you made because you too have been drinking. They'll call with Ace-anything and less.

b) Play as tight as a gnat's chuff! - no one will notice. In fact, no one sticks around long enough to get a pattern on your play.

c) Don't try and play "poker" - no one will understand. Just push your money in when you know you are favourite and pray - lol.

This is all about Friday and Saturday ngiht mind you. During normal hours there tends to be a few regulars who mop up from the rest.

As for carbon - I probably will reload soon. I like the site way too much. Nice players too - mainly European so some good aggressive competition. I'm at Titan at the moment. Nothing exciting about Titan apart from a very attractive deposit deal, though I'm finding the points system is very very mean - you earn sod all points unless you are a high stakes player. I play $10 SnGs and 10/20c ring and I'm really struggling to realease anything at all!

There is a bug on Cake that you should be aware off. I was having a bad run before it happend so i was down to my last 25 wich i used for a 4 player shootout tourney (i do fairly allright headsup) I won my first game quikk and easy and was waiting for my opponents to finnish up. I watched them for a while to see what kind of players they were , it was apperant that 1 was a complete donk and the other was a fairly weak player.

I went to put on some coffee while waiting . when i came back they were finnished and the donk had won and was now helping himself to my chips.
I noticed that he had gone all in to secure my 20 blind. i pressed take my seat/i am back button and was imidiatly pushed all in against my will.
I had A8 and the donk had QQ i lost.

I notified support of the error and asked to get my 25 refunded and get credited with the 25 from the opponent i had beaten allready. I got an email saying they had looked into it and found no error on their part and it was a completely legit play. So i got nothing back. I cant be bothered with reloading on that site anymore , not that i cant afford it but I dont think that site got to much going for it espessially with the bug and all.

So if your gonna play cake poker , Before you press the "I am back" button watch carefully on whats been betted before do, because you just may be autocalling it when you press it .
