I gave it a try last night. I played in a couple of $5 SnG's to test the water. I finished 2nd and 3rd, so not too bad. Plenty of bad players willing to hand over chips.

BUT ... the software sucks big time in my opinion.

It is slow to update the lobby and tournament information. It often gave the wrong information, like saying a player had no chips, but I could see they had plenty. It seemes to be a few hands behind too, often saying players had more chips than they had because of it. The sounds are awful and the table play isn't so hot either. And I totally lost count of the number of times it crashed on me. In the first SnG, it was 7 or 8. So, I re-started my PC in case it was a memory thing, but yet again, in the next SnG it crashed about 5 times.

I played a low stakes cash table. Bad move. I totally forgot how many donks play the lower levels. I had A-K hearts, raised to 5x BB. Flop was Q-8-x with 2 hearts on board. I bet out, got called. Turn was blank. I bet out, got called. River was blank, I missed the flush. I tried to bluff, but it didn't work because she had me beat easy. She had called my 5x BB with Q-8 and hit 2 pairs on the flop. My fault I suppose for playing in such donkfest waters. lol

But even in that cash game, Cake crashed numerous times. I then played another $5 SnG but after about the 7th or 8th crash I decided to forget it and just pushed all-in until I was out.

Out of boredom late at night, I played a $3 tournament with about 140 players. I decided to play crazy for a laugh and it worked stupidly well. My big break came when I had 10-10. I raised, but 3 people behind me went all-in!! I knew I was behind but went all-in anyway just for the hell of it. One guy had J-J, the other 2 both had A-J. So the jacks were tied up and the aces were running slim. Well, I got a 10 on the flop and knocked all 3 of them out and I was the huge chip leader. I cruised into the money, but got bust by a suckout. I was all-in on the turn with a Q high board and I had a Q. I was called by a bigger stack who had nothing, just Ace high (God knows why he called). But, he rivered an Ace and I cashed for $5 I think. lol

But again, crash after crash after crash. It was weird crashes too. The box would pop up saying there had been an error and offered me the choice to send the info to Microsoft, the usual crash box. But the game still played in the background with no sound. I could still do actions but that box kept popping up. It did only take a few seconds to shut down and re-load, but what a pain. The only thing I could find in common with the crashes is that it always happened at the start of a hand.

So I don't like the Cake software at all. It's slow, clunky and crashes every 10-15 minutes. I only have a small amount of dollars in there, so I might blow them playing crazy in low buy-in tourneys when I need a laugh

thats odd, Cake has never crashed on me.

The lobby info is a problem, they've spent a fortune trying to fix it and for some reason, it still wont work correctly. I use the stats and info tabs on the table for my info.

As for the players on Cake, it's why I play there

Ive experienced a few crashes on Cake, but none in the past 6 months, and only 1 in the past year. Id look into your system or network on that.

And, I agree on the lobby. Its frustrating. Use tabs near chat to fix that.

And, yes, thats why Im moving another 1k to cake after some issues there before. The fish are JUST TOO AVAILABLE!

Yeah, I can't deny the players are soft. The 2 Sit n Go's I cashed in I saw some terrible play and horrendous bluffs. For instance, one guy shoved all-in on the river with 3 hearts showing and he was insta-called. The guy who pushed had nothing, it was a total bluff. The guy who called had hit the flush. lol

So this was, in my opinion, a terrible bluff. There wasn't a lot in the pot so it was a massive overbet and he was only going to get called by someone who had the flush.

I found it easy to accumulate chips as some players found it hard to lay down a pocket pair, even if there were 4 overcards on the board. And they were certainly easier to trap than some guys on Full Tilt

I'm not sure why the Cake software kept crashing on me then if it works fine for you. Very weird

I contacted Cake and they had an issue with the software last night. I should get a full update by tomorrow.

True, don't give up on Cake. There is alot of money to be made on the site. I'll let you know when I have confirmation that the software issue is fixed.

Yup, problems for me as well. I started playing at Cake again after having a short break from poker. Started again at Stars, but I really dont like Stars.

Decided to start at Cake again. Today after the update everything crashes, and at this moment, I can't connect anymore.
Disconnected my computer and connected again, but no difference.
Re-installed the software, still doesnt work.
Made an extra exception in the Windows Firewall, no help.

It keeps saying, "waiting for server response"
Their website tells me otherwise: "Status at 11/1/2007 9:07:48 PM: Very Good (52ms) "

Hmm... things have improved now. Can play again, but opening the software and especially opening tables takes forever. Hope things improve by tomorrow

yeah there are some issues, I'll post here as soon as I get word that they have all been fixed.

All "gambling" is state regulated in the Netherlands, and the only casino that offers poker is Holland Casino which is owned by the government. Demand exceeds supply bigtime, so hopping into a casino and start playing is not an option.

Never played poker in the casino tho, only roulette a few years ago. For the NL tables the minimum buy-in is 250 euro. They also offer sit&go's with a 10 euro cost.
