This is what I've noticed since playing at PP and popping back to PKR here and there for a game: (these are genuinely clear observations, not just a hunch) - most of this you probably know, but I thought I'd pen it to see if you agree.

(I play $5 10 seat SNGs mainly)

Category: Definately blindingly obvious

PKR: Everyone thinks they are Gus Hansen - loads of loose aggressives (well, more like maniacs)- frequently over half the table - and oddly the chicks are always maniacs!
PP: Usually get one at most on table, sometimes 3. Often none.

PKR: Linked to above - All-in frenzy. Common to see 3 gone after 3 hands.
PP: All in is rare until the table thins out or people hit monsters.

PKR: Overbetting is common - like everyone plays as if 300 is the minimum when the blinds are 30
PP: Far far less so unless several LAG are present

PKR: chasing the river is almost the law
PP: again, very uncommon. People that do usually lose

Category: More subjective but still definately clear

PKR: Very frequent players are rude in chat, or ridiculing emotes
PP: Only happened once, when I got called a fish :-) !

PKR : starting chips 1500 and blinds too fast
PP: Starting 2000 and slower blinds.

I think the above point is part of th reason PKR games are so aggressive. People calmbering to get chips before the blinds overtake, in what is a much slower game.

PKR: Tourney structure for SNGs and MTTS is limited
PP: lots of variety


This isn't meant to be a PP is better than PKR thread - it's to point out the diffrences from my perspective. PKR is unique in as much as it's as close to the "being there" experience that you can get so far, albeit, being there with idiots :-p

When it comes to depositing money, for me, it's a no brainer. Play the one where you win more, get better value, and less stressed.

People will say adapt, but I don't want to adapt to games full of loons where if you don't put your stack on the line every 10 mins you get left behind, or rivered if you do.

Oh, and to stir a can of worms, I've only seen Pair vs Pair a handful of times now, and when it has happened, it's not been 5 players all with top pair lol. More like AA vs QQ. I've seen one set of quads and about 3 boats, over 70 games.

lol - I'd like to add on reaching my bonus PP gave me $50 for the casino. How in god's name people play slot machines - the US variety , is a mystery to me. Click, click, click, click. Snooorrreee! zzzzzzzz I got rid of the $50 as quick as possible lol

In my experiance the idiots make the PKR 'live feel' all the more authentic(loads of idiots down my local card room). :P

You make some valid points and its refreshing to see someone take a reasoned analitical(sp?) look at PKR and their own game. I personally love the idiots on PKR. Profitability for me becomes higher when people are quiet willing to knock eachother out early and shorten the field (i would class myself as a short-handed specialist). I know this style of play doesn't suite everyone but i'm sick and tired of 'there are suited boards every 2 hands', 'the RNG is rigged' and other such conspiricy(sp?) nonsence. If you keep losing take a good look at your game don't jump to conclusions, you may not be as good as you think you are </rant>

Anyway, kudos to you Dodgey. GL at the tables (even the ebil PP ones :P)

I think the reason PKR users play the way they do is because a lot of people sign up for it cause it looks more like a game and are there to have a laugh. They also don't notice the money they loose slowly.

And yes, I totally agree Logistics. I certainly fell into that category when I started at PKR. I put money in because it looked like a laugh.

Bah - lost 3 SNGs in a row today over at PP. Just lack of cards forcing errors, nothing more, nothing less. Not seen a royal pair for some time now. Think I need to learn to play my lower connectors better to help cover when my big hands dry up.

Damn this game requires so much discipline lol.

I played for a long time pp and it suck, too many donk's.You may want to go with PS and FT but not PP,it's like playing bingo with a bunch of donkey's..I like PKR better than PP and by far,if you want to lose your money keep playing on PP.

Horses for courses mate. I did very well at PP. Didn't find much bingo on the $10 sngs. Did terribly at FT - everyone is too tight.
