Next-gen poker room signs up with Dennis Publishing
London, May 6, 2008 – PKR.com has hired Dennis Communications, the customer publishing arm of Dennis Publishing, to produce a quarterly print magazine for their players. The first issue of the magazine will be published in June 2008. The PKR.com publication will be distributed free of charge to an international selection of PKR.com customers as a premium benefit of playing at PKR.com. The magazine is targeted specifically at advanced poker players and its title will remain under wraps until its launch. Bespoke content will include advanced poker strategy and advice, poker news, PKR.com promotions and relevant player reviews. A six-figure sum and year long deal was negotiated for the deal with Dennis Communications that will see PKR.com in print for the first time ever, having already conquered the digital realm with their unique 3-D technology. PKR.com has seen remarkable growth since launch and it was felt now was the perfect time to go one step further in rewarding their most loyal customers and offer a new way to interact with the brand. PKR.com Marketing Director, Simon Prodger added, “Teaming up with Dennis Communications on this project marries well into what our brand represents. PKR.com has been a great success in the digital world, and we are pleased to offer our online players more content with this new print magazine. This partnership is a good opportunity to enhance the relationship our brand has already formed with our loyal players and to build on the huge success of our online output.” Tim Farthing, Commercial Director at Dennis Communications commented, “Dennis Publishing have already established themselves as the world’s leading gambling publisher, owning numerous titles such as Inside Poker and Poker Player. This perfectly places Dennis Communications to bring PKR.com into the print spectrum as we have a long and successful working relationship with them. Dennis have the expertise to produce market leading consumer magazines and this publication will be specifically targeted to an audience who are already loyal to PKR.com. “

I have absolutely no idea.
But they will probably be sending it to all active players. Meaning if you opened an account and play on it, you'll probably get one.

"targeted specifically at advanced players" but also containing advanced hints and tips....surely they'd be better off targeting at mid-level players who are more willing to improve and just look for those who are playing with reasonable regularity...
Could even be one of the prizes in the pkrpoints tournies discussed elsewhere? |

I imagine it would be part of the imminent relaunch of ClubPKR. It will probably cost some poker points and therefore be purchased.
I serious doubt they've printed a copy for each of their 2 million or so customers. |

True - but by the time you whittle out the numerous freebie reloaders and dormant accounts - there's probably a darn sight less than 2m....based on the average users on line, there's probably not so many active players that'd be impossible to post a printed version and everyone knows that a posted item is 100's of times more effective than anything emailed.

Definitely - hard copy marketing is no longer even comparable to the total-loss marketing that email campaigns have become...on the off-chance that subscribers to the forum and pkr are involved in elements of marketing and mailshots - Envelope Printing Company (EPC) Ltd: Specialists in high quality overprinting of envelopes would always be able to help with regards the initial impact of any DM campaign and if you were to make a point of including "I know about your company by way of your involvement in motorsport...." - rumour has it that you may just find them quite flexible with regards price....

According to PKR, the magazine is a full publication that will be available for purchase with PKR points as part of their upcoming relaunch of ClubPKR which is now due to start on 1st July. It is not a "mini-mag" or flyer type thing sent out as a marketing device.
They had planned to start ClubPKR at the beginning of June, but technical issues prevented them from doing so and it needs to be implemented at the start of a month, hence the delay until July. |
