Just thought id tell you about this.
Happened about 2 months ago now, in the $1 regular, i have played quite tight and not played many hands, there are 50 people left. I have around 1600 chips and i get dealt AA on the big blind. One guy raises to $750 about half his stack, i decide to slow play my Aces and trap him, i flat call Flop Comes A75 Great, ive got him, i check as most would hoping he will push all in.... JACKPOT, He pushes all in. Obviously i call, He turns Over 88 Ive played the Aces perfectly here imo, and have got him where it hurts. TURN : 8 RIVER : 8 What can i say ? |

OK , yes your right. Great site assistance and helpfull. I've been playing PKR for probably a year or more ( have lost track of time due to playing PKR ).
For the last couple of months or so I have been playing mostly tourneys with 5 or 10 players, I win a few but more ofter than not I will get to the last three or two and have really bad beats. So that is why I was having a whinge and a moan, but as I said those graphics really suck me in, love them. The hands that I lost out on were aa or kk against say a 7 9 and sure enough I could predict that on the river a pair of nines or a pair of sevens would come out. I tried playing like a noob the last couple I went in but to no avail, I still went down. Anyway just thoughgt Ide throw a post in.. Cheers Buddy |

As long as you play your hands right, those AA -KK - etc
rest assure in the long run, you will be the winner. If you start and continue to leave it in the back of your mind that you can't win with those cards, your not meant to play poker long term bad beats happen, suck outs happen that is where they got the term " thats poker " people see it more online, because they see 75% more hands then they would live. Another thing that is more aware to online then live, is the hand historys people are always posting everytime they lose a hand. Take Momaboy as an example, he only posts bad beats and suck outs. He's a good player, I've sat at a few tables with him on PKR but because players get the nagative in their head, IT STICKS its so much easier for the mind to remember the bad, over the good. do you remember when you raised pre flop with AA and everyone folded? or what sticks out is the donkey that called you down with 72 to hit his 2 card flush? Poker is much more a self mental game, then a play the cards, play a player. you are really playing yourself After every hand, till you learn self control, forget them you do no good to remember the how, or the why the only thing that you should remember is the who |

Yes I play at Hollywood poker now (Poker room).
I've not really had much luck since I left, bu tthis was mainly because I was playing on Full Tilt too...I was having the sickest beats there. I cleared $500 in bonuses but was still $500 down from my initial deposit when I took my cash out The two weeks after I did that, I was up $1400. I was upto $4750 so I felt I had the bankroll for 200$ NL. Last night I took the leap, however it was probably the worst night i've ever had. AK would never hit, and when it finally did it was an 6KK flop and of course I was against 66. I was beaten by an endless amount of coolers. Constantly reraised preflop when i'm holding QQ or KK. Absolutely terrible... Since yesterday and STILL today i'm constantly flopping 2 pair on harmless non-drawing boards and going up against sets. It's sick, but hey, poker isn't poker without the downswings. I've been playing for 2 hours and I can't remember the last time I hit a set, yet it seems everyone who calls against me hits them I'm probably another $200 down today and it gets worse...i've gone from being $1400 up for the month to $200 or so down in the space of 24 hours More annoyingly i've bought a new 22" monitor, and spent £120 on nights out over the last fortnight out of my winnings for the current month - and then this happens ![]() And to Toddswain, no I've not gone back to PKR and never will! The only thing I miss about it, is the fact my profits were fairly consistant and the players were all pretty weak (apart from a few). After the terrible run of form on there, I probably would have just taken a break from it for a month, but the way customer support treated me made me never want to give them any of my cash ever again. I did try a tournament out of my leftover points, but going from playing 6 tables at a time at Hollywood to the one, extremelely slow PKR table I could see the world of difference and ended up just donking out for the fun of it Last edited by mamboboy : 08-22-2007 at 09:16 PM. |

$4750...and youre playing $200NL? I believe that is 1/2 blinds, correct me if I am wrong. You are playing WAY under youre roll. With that roll, Id be playing at least 2/4 IF NOT 3/6. Luck will take care of itself, but you have to play smart on where you play.

Hmmm - Borgo - you know I know you are an awesome player, but, I have to say, I would always applaud anyone who plays below their bankroll. There seem far too many people playing above it!
Sayign that - if you are playing poker for a living (and I think far far less people are truly doing that than they claim) then yes, playing below your bankroll is daft. |

Playing below your bankroll can be just as detrimental as playing above. The losses and gains arent as significant. Im not saying that nobody can do it, or that you should always play at your level, but playing at your bankroll limit is calced that way for a reason.
