I think it has more to do with the levels you're playing. I can't see anyone playing those much different. People will call and go allin with just about anything when you're playing for pennies.

I know what you mean Dodgey. I am currently playing $20 SnG's at Full Tilt and enjoying myself, making a nice bit of profit. I withdrew my cash again from PKR despite being in profit. My main reasons were:
1) They take an absolute age to fill up. I was once sat 45 minutes at a 10 seater $10 SnG table and there were still only 4 of us sat down, so I thought "screw that" and left. lol 2) The blind structures are a bit crappy. They rise too sharply for me and with the pace of PKR it soon becomes time to make a move, especially if you become card dead for just a couple of rounds 3) Numpty's making crazy calls and plays (although I have seen some weird calls/plays on Full Tilt too) So as usual, I had a bit of rakeback paid in and decided to just blow it away for a bit of fun. I entered a $5 10 seater SnG. First hand I have K-K. I make a standard raise, one caller, then a re-raiser. I decide to gamble and push all-in. Both guys call. One shows Q-Q and I am happy. The other shows 8-9 off suit and I laugh. I think I might treble up on the first hand! Alas, Mr Numpty-I-have-connecting-cards-so-that's-good-enough-to-call-two-all-ins sucks out. An 8 hit the flop and a 9 hit the turn. This is where I try and tilt him and it works to a degree (while I was needling him he pushed all-in with ace high and ran into trips). I call him a donk and a muppet and say he can't play poker (I was laughing while doing this, I wasn't bothered about $5 but I just wanted to wind him up). He said if anyone goes all-in on the first hand he would always call with any two cards and his bank balance proves it always works. Make of that what you will. lol And that's the problem. These donks who suck out and get lucky actually think they are good players and so will carry on doing what they do. And believe me, I have seen a few mad gamblers crash and burn on Full Tilt when they run into good players (and I have taken a few down too I have noticed a fair difference in standard between $5 and $20. Luckily, there are still bad players at the $20 level. But there are also some good players that can make it hard to win. And back to the point, moving up in levels is definitely a good thing because the lower level guys just don't care about the little bit of cash they have staked and that leads to erratic, crazy play Last edited by TrueForm : 10-17-2007 at 12:53 AM. |

Staying off-topic, well sort of, :-) ... I just played a cash table 5/10c on good old cake. It's so much fun. If you are in the mind to play solid reliable poker then it can be a giggle. Plonkerfest! - I got KK and raised 5xbb (4xbb does not cut it on cake small stakes). Everyone called. Two went all in on the flop. I bailed out.
You have to adjust drastically on a cash game with overly loose players, but at least you can adjust. (I doubled up over a short period). Thing is, on SnGs you can't adjust to a table like that, you get blinded out. You have to gamble. I've def. found 10$ SnGs are far less prone to plonkers. You'd think you want plonkers to milk them, but in a SnG/Tourney, you want bad players, not plonkers. There is a huge difference. Bad players chase the junk to the river and lose. Plonkers push you all in with anything and put your tournie at stake for no good reason. Not playing too much at the moment, got a lot on my plate (and I'm not working lol) but still enjoying it as much as ever! |

25/50cents is a good price point, you still get the donks who are obviously playing their entire bankroll (you know they join with $43.23) and you cant work out in a few hands if they are scared money or there to gamble.
You can adjust and help relieve them of there money. I am at home at $1/2 nothing sweeter than rich donks |
