End Of Hand #424736904

As you can see, I'm in early positions with KK. It's totally normal on PKR for raises not to be respected so it's no surprise that I get 3 callers to my 5x BB raise. The flop isn't too great for me. Possible flush draw, possible straight draw. But the guy pushes with $8.75 (yes, he was a minimum buy-in player), which was less than the pot so it's an easy call for me to make. I wasn't sure what to see from him, 2 pairs, trips, draws. But I certainly didn't expect 10-3 off suit!

And it's bad players like this that make PKR profitable if you can be patient. This guy called a raise, out of position with total junk. He then hit his pair with almost the worst kicker going and pushes. I'm not sure what he's thinking, but there is a lot of hands I would be calling that bet with (or any of the other players still in), especially has he didn't have enough chips to cover the pot which means we're all getting better than 2-1 for any variety of hands. Flush draws, straight draws etc are all priced in easily. Even a 10 would beat him, presuming someone else hadn't called with 10-2 of course. lol

Long may these players continue to grace poker with their presence. And long may they continue to sit at my table (unless they suck out - it stings like hell. lol)

lol - I'll be back there soon! :-)

I just played a hand on Carbon (5c/10c NL - I'm learning cash game at the moment)

I get KK. I raise 5xbb (50c) (last to act)
I get 3 out of 5 callers
Flop: 22J
I bet about 95c into a $2 pot
I get 2 callers
Turn is Q
I bet pot to test for trips
I get one caller
River is 2

So I now have a full house and the only hand that beats me is quad 2's. That means the only chap left had to play something like A2 - not impossible but an odd call on 5xbb. He aint got AA - no way - he didn't play like he did at all.

We end up all in and he has....

Jx

A pair of jacks (well, a boat, but a crap one all things considered, and it was only 2 pair until the river)

What the hell did he think I raised with? Even a Queen had him beat. :-)

Aha - but when you consider just how many times there's a random muppet over-betting the table with any A or K then you can follow his "logic". (i.e. he uses his own methodology which is probably based solely around those 2 cards so therefore his Jacks would beat the detritus that he'd usually bet on)...

Mind you - that's why I frequently won't bet for the first few hands to ensure I've identified the ones who bet that way and then just play round their failings....
