Default Something scarey

I had this strange experience on PKR the other day and I've only just remembered it. It was at a cash table, 6 handed. I'm on the button with A-6 off suit. It folds around to me and I decide to limp and see a cheap flop. SB and BB call. Anyway, I can't remember the flop, but I think an ace came down. Both check to me and I bet the pot, thinking I could take it. SB folds but BB raised. After a bit of thought, I fold - convinced I'm out-kicked. I say soemting in chat about the fact I was probably out-kicked and was surprised by the response. The guy who won it said something like "Well, it's your own fault for limping with A-6" !! I was a bit taken aback.

Now I'm fairly sure that he doesn't have any software that can see my hole cards, but the thought flashed through my head. Memories of news reports about Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet came back to me. On reflection, I reckon he just guessed my hand. After all, I did say I thought I was out-kicked so he knew I had the ace and it's not hard to randomly guess a low card. And I'm sure if he did have special software he would be stupid to kinda brag about it - wouldn't he? Still spooked me though. lol

That is definitely creepy True. Bordering on the downright scary as you pointed out. To be honest, I've never heard of the Absolute and Ultimate Bet scandals, so this is all news to me. I'd hate to imagine someone sitting out there across from me at the table with a program able to see my cards!. Insanity!.

Google the Absolute one - it was one hell of a story. Essentially, people suspected one chap could see everyones' hole cards when he won a big money MTT and played like he could see all the cards, particularly the last hand where he called all-in and win with someything like a 10 high lol.

Guys on a poker forum looked at all his aliases and checked all their hand history and found a pattern of 100% wins and folds that insicted he knew everyone's cards. He'd been playing a lot of big money cash games.

They pestered the admins at Absolute who denied anythign at 1st, then, a techie their "accidentally" sent the complainant a hand hhistory file that showed all the other player's hole cards - google it - you can se the movie on youtube.

Friggin hillarious. They ended up admitting he had access to a special admin account (he was connected to ex staff, or was ex staff) and could log on with the account on a second pc and watch all the hole cared as he played

Lots of people were paid compensation

wonderful stuff!

Players on Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet did get a refund of all their losses. Some guy even got $240.000.

Confidence in AP and UB got a huge blow tho, lots of people are really sceptical about those sites now. That is because the player community found out about the scandals and not the AP or UB security. Also the entire link between UB, AP and the KGC is a bit itchy.

If you want to read about it, you can find it here:
