i used to always raise with this hand regardless of position but recently i have been limping a lot with it in early position and it pays off,

if you miss the flop you can check fold no problem without losing many chips,

if you hit your hand is well disguised and someone with AT or A9 will think they have the best hand, and you can win a lot of chips

if your a little short stacked limp raising all in often works well, as someone with AQ will probably put you on a small pair.

In late position though i would always raise with it.

pmsl luke!!!

urm i think it depends, what bilnds if there is all ins before you how many to act after you,

i would limp from early

raise from mid /late

ship it if i hit an ace on the flop

ship it and rub my hands if i hit the nuts

A-K

Main danger- under-playing pre-flop and over-playing post flop

Pre-Flop

Correct to be very aggressive before the flop, after all its favourite over everything bar pocket pairs, and even then its usually only a coin-flip. The hand is only really in trouble against K-K (30% win) and A-A (10%win) In most tournament situations you are rarely doing much wrong if you get all your chips in pre-flop. A common mistake players make is calling a large re-raise with A-K for a decent portion of their stack- say 30%- and then folding when they miss. Remember that your only going to make a pair on the flop around a third of the time, so if your going to play A-K, you’re probably best re-shoving all-in pre-flop. You could force your opponent (s) to fold, and, if not, you get to see all 5 cards to improve.

Post-Flop

If your A-K doesn’t improve on the flop you should usually fold to any strength unless you have the nut flush draw. The harder decisions come when you make top pair, top kicker. Against aggressive, tricky players you might want to slow the action down with measured check-calling. At lower levels…. well you have to decide but be prepared to get your chips in.

However at the start of a tournament when the blinds are low I prefer to limp in early position as AK is just a drawing hand, and if I miss flop usually decide to lay it down. In the later stages of a tournament AK is much more powerful.

yeah i find this the best way to play it in the early stages, if you hit someone being aggressive might double you up because they cant put you on AK

Slow playing ace king will kill you in the end.
If you see me going all in today you can count on me having AK or better

Now yesterday if AK had of went " All in " would you not have folded? Instead you managed to take down a monster pot with pocket 3's

That's why i don't play it as aggressive anymore, any PP is a favourite against it.

And yesterday ended up a bingo game anyway, so it was play a hand when you get it or blind out.
