Default I discovered a great little raising strategy

Well, I'm sure I stumbled accross a common method, but it worked a treat.

This really worked well with three to six players left - any more and I think my moves would not be noticed by all the players.

(BB is 100 for these examples)

I was mixing up my raises with strong hole cards, sometimes I'd raise 600, Sometimes 300, sometimes 200 (the largest in early positions). Then, when I got called, went to a showdown, and won, I'd make a mental note of what I initially raised with - whatever the amount. This was now my "strong hand raise amount" as far as the other players are concerned.

Next time I got an average hand I'd bet the "strong amount". All would fold. Or at worst leave a caller who I'd get rid of with a hefty continuation bet. Pretty standard stuff.

Then, when I raised x amount with an average/crap hand and got caught (and I'd show) - I'd use this as my "weak hand raise amount" as far as they are concerned.

So basically, I'd make sure they saw me raise , say 400 with a monster hand, and 600 with a crap hand.

From now on I'd flip it and raise the opposite. 600 with a monster and 400 with crap.

It worked every time. I got callers with monsters and folders with crap! Bets of all I rarely went to a river so they never saw.

I may have got lucky in one game, but it sure worked a treat and had them foxed. After a while people just didn't want to be in a hand with me.

(It was slightly more complex, can't remember the exact details but I remember having three set amounts I used and flipped them to the opposite of what I'd revealed in the past)

Fairly common, but it is sometimes best to point out the most common plays, if only for yourself.

Hint of advice on this. "mental notes" are a bad idea when playing online. Make REAL notes. Pen/paper is very effective for this.

Indeed - I tend to voice my thoughts on here a lot, partly to reinforce what I've learnt to myself.

Just had a super game on FT - got my confidence back recently (been languishing in $5 SNGs for a while after a big downswing entirely self generated. I used to play 10$ SNGs all the time and moved up to 20$ just before my bad spell). PLayed a 10$ SnG to test the water with my new confidence and had a hoot.

One chap was constantly stealing (the big stack ofc). I put up with it for a while as I had mainly crap or suited connectors and it would have resulted in "call", flop, he raises massively, "fold". Eventually I had enough (as had the rest of the table it seemed) and pushed all-in to one of his steals (on a gut shot - never my normal play!)

- he folded. Then said "Kings?".
I replied. "Nope - nothing"
He said "Ahh - good information to know, thanks"
I replied, "well, good if I was telling the truth"
He said "I considered that"
I replied "So you are none the wiser then? :-p"

Now the really lame reply from him...

"It was only 400 chips". lmao

Then someone else did it to him and I said, "Don't worry, it was only 650 chips". hahaha

I took him out. he did it again with 74 off and I had a strong hand.

Came second in the end. Last two hands I had TPTK and both times the other guy hit river trips. No sweat , it happens, nice profit, and above all, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

This game rocks when you have a clear head and feel like you are holding place, if not making progress.

Let me translate what Ass is saying:

"Playing in a way that I do, such as betting equal amounts no matter the hand I have, disguises my hand, gives no reads, and thus makes an average profit. It is a winning way to play."

With that said, Ass (and myself) is not here to educate you in every aspect of poker. He is simply saying that this way is a winning, profitable way, and you would be wise to do as such. His credentials as a winning poker player is all the explanation needed.
