It's a heartbreaking, frustrating game sometimes. I just played really well for an hour, was second in chips with a nice 3,500 of them. 5 of us left and the short stack has only 1,000. Blinds are 100/200 so he's pushing a lot. I get Q-Q and raise, short stack goes all-in, I call. He shows 5-5. Sweet. Well until a 5 hits the turn that is. OK, no problem. Smallish hit, still have 2,500. The very next hand I am on the button with K-9 hearts. All fold to me, I raise and the BB calls. Flop comes down A-Q-3 hearts. Wow, flopped the nuts. BB shoves all-in and because he had 3,500 chips, he has me covered and I'm all-in. Happy birthday to me. Insta-call. He shows A-Q. Oh-oh, please no. Turn was a blank, river an Ace. Needless to say the air turned blue and it took a while for me to calm down. lol
It just seems so infuriating at times. An hours work destroyed in 2 hands - less than 5 minutes - and both times I was in with the best hand and I don't really see how I could have done anything different. I can't even blame it on donks because they weren't donks. I would have done exactly the same thing if I was in either of their shoes. The short stack had to call with a pair. And the A-Q was obviously trying to scare away a flush draw, hoping it hadn't already hit.
It's all compounded by the fact that I was cruising and was sure I was going to cash. Still, that's poker I suppose. That cow Lady Luck just likes to kick me in the balls now and again. lol
