One word: isolation. If you have 3-4 guys that you can consistently beat...play against them. Just because there are 10 people at a table, you don't have to play consistently against all of them. There are a couple guys on PS who, if they raise a pot, I'm not playing unless I have either a) position or b) very very strong hands..and usually not even with position. You just have to pick your opponents at the tables you pick, and beware those that can take advantage of you.

Ring games, also called cash games or live action games, are poker games played with "real" chips and money on the line, usually with no predetermined end time. In contrast, a poker tournament is played with tournament chips (worth nothing outside the tournament) with a definite and condition (usually, only one player left)...

Internet bots, also called web robots, WWW robots or simply bots, are software applications that run automated tasks over the Internet. Typically, bots perform tasks that are both simple and structurally repetitive, at a much higher rate than would be possible for a human editor alone.

It depends on your style of play. In short, do you like to steal lots of small pots (tight table) or would you rather win a few huge pots (loose table).
It is important to identify the strong players (and the weak ones!) at the table quickly for two main reasons:- 1) They usually don't start building a big pot without a premium hand, so don't get involved without the goods 2) Once these players identify you as a strong player, these are the players you can bluff against because they will respect your play and fold if they think they are beat. Often the good players are multitabling and don't like marginal situations so they often fold mediocre strength hands without much thought. But don't overdo it! An important principle to follow is play small pots with small hands and big pots with big hands. It's such a simple and obvious rule but so many people forget it. Good luck. |
