Default losing with AA

Last time I depend on my pocket cards from the start. AA is dangerous.
Sometimes allin is better. A lesson learned the hard way.

The key to playing Aces is knowing your opponents! You need to bet accordingly to encourage 1-2 callers but enough that you’re not going to be seen by half the table. The worst thing you can do in a cash game is over bet your big starters like AA and KK as you get these hands on average 1 in every 124 hands dealt and need to make them pay!

Yes AA is dangerous especially going up against a few players in a hand. Allin is definitely the best choice considering you have the best starting hand in poker game . Why not put your tourney life or whatever chips you have with the best hand.

All in with AA?

Almost Never. Why players choose to go allin or to slow play and try to trap with AA is beyond me. The correct play is to raise 3-5x the BB and hope to get called. At a loose table a pot sized be may the correct play. But to raise allin is a mistake unless you know for a fact that you will get called.

AA (and to some extent KK and AK) cause so many problems for people, in my opinion, because they enter the hand expecting to win. They feel they are owed it.

It's top pair, but it's not so hot when the board pairs and you need another ace to make top trips/full house. Or when a straight/flush starts to form on the board.

Took me thousands of hands to stop playing AA/AKs like I had hit the "I Win" button.

I definately play them hard though. Sometimes all fold, and you get the crappy blinds. Sometimes you get one caller with KK and clear them out. Sometimes you get too many callers and you have to pray or fold them.

Playing Full Tilt I have had A-A 10 times in cash games and they won 100%. Also had them 3 times in SnG's and again, won 100%.

So I am 13 for 13 so far.

4 of the cash games no one called my pre-flop raise. 4 of them players folded when I bet the flop. 1 went to the river and he had a pair of 6's and I had one beauty where a player decided to come over the top of my raise and go all-in. He had A-Q suited and my A-A held up.

I have been lucky with them though. I have seen them cracked a few times on FT and I even cracked some myself when I called with pocket 9's and a 9 hit the flop.

I too used to have massive trouble with them because I simply over-played them. It got that I didn't want to see them in my hole cards. lol. But if you play them as exactly what they are, which is just a pair if they don't improve on the flop, then the troubles go away. Don't be ashamed to fold them if the board looks scarey and other players start betting big

Edit: Make that 14 out of 14. Just doubled my stack in a SnG when I had AA v QQ. I like AA at the moment. hehe

play aces like you play every good hand, always raise the same amount preflop and same amount postflop, because people cant put you on a hand if you do so.

in the oktoberfest bounty special i've seen like 9 people lose with aces.
2nd hand a dude raises 4x bb UTG, and get called from the CO and reraised from the BB, he instant pushes in and gets called by both.
UTG=A/A
CO=A/K suited
BB=Q/Q, winner QQ next hand, another one goes out with aces and it goes on and on for a few more rounds.
Then suddenly i had aces, i was freaking nervous (lol) but i was the 1st ''lucky''(really not) person who won a huge pot with it and got 20th also thanks to the rockets.
Offcourse losing with aces hurt more then normal because you always think (YEEEES!!!) when you see m in your hand. But believe me, you want two callers MAX! or else you suck out for sure!

Default AA is only a pair

Well put, when getting bullets you want to raise to get 1 or 2 callers. In my opinion, someone correct me if im wrong, you than need to attack the flop to find out where u stand.
AA is only a pair, and quite hard to improve, so the more you let in the more chance u have to lose. Never, Never go all in straight up preflop with aces if u have a "manageable stack." If u push all in preflop with AA and lose u have no right to complain, unless "superfish" called u with junk like Q 5 offsuit or some crap. Put in a big raise hope for a reraise then push if you must. Maybe its just me but id rather see if the flop comes out horribly scary b4 completely commiting.
