Default OK - help me here - advice needed!

So, I've decided I need to slap myself and perk up. I lost on PKR. I moved to PP. I won lots (for me anyway!). Cashed the bonus and moved to FT for the bonus. lost repeatedly. Moved back to PP, lost.

Now it's kind of obvious it's me not the sites. After reading an article about a poker player who realised his state of mind was ruining his game I realised that is clearly what happened to me. I know I'm good enough to break even at the least but I feel weak. So I've got 100 bucks in FT with the sole aim of earning my bonus with a target of at least breaking even with my bankroll before bonus. I'm putting another 100 in Cake for the tournies, but thats another story.

Now the advice. I figure I should play small no limit tables and play tight as a gnat's chuff.

What do you think? right idea? any advice on stakes?

I was losing my money on PKR slowly until I decided to skip a few levels. I moved up from the 0.05/0.10 to 0.50/1 tables. I think most of you ppl will tell me that it is a terrible move but it worked for me. I was 300 dollar up in one week.
I think it is because I tightened up playing on higer stakes and because there are less riverchasers so your good hands pay off more.

I wouldn't recommened what Dunbar did. I'm not say its a terrible move as its working out for her, however i still wouldn't recommend it. Good Bankroll management suggest to play $0.50/$1 you should have a bankroll of $1000. In your case Dodgey, good bankroll management says you shouldn't really play above $0.05/$0.10 cash and $5.50 stts.

As for playing tighter than a nats chuff i wouldn't recommend that if it isn't your natural game. You said that you were winning previously. What have you done to alter your game since you were winning last? Are you playing too many pots? Have you changed your strategy adversly by widening your starting hand selection or showing too much pre-flop passiveness? Basically i would recommend you analyse your game and try and plug some leeks. Just playing tight could actually cost you money. You should be adapting your style to the table. When everyone is playing loose, you should play tight and vice versa. Simply playing tight all the time will lose you advantages you can exploite.

If being to loose is your problem then playing really tight might be the answer. However i strongly suggest you take a look at your game. Look over your records and see whats been killing you.

Good Luck dude

aye - I'm playing 10/25c - I find 5/10 just way too boring and full of bingo boys.

Can't really fathom what has happened to my game. It just seems every time I have a hand, someone else has one just a little bit better! :-)

I placed 4th in a SNG earlier. My trips beaten by someone hitting a lucky river - which seems to be the current theme!

I'm playing right now and I'm improving, though losing (only down a few bucks). I think I've been too pasive post flop. I'm experimenting as we speak.

I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to cash tables but I'm definately learnign to move aroudn and find the "right" table :-)

This is a very subjective question. I have recently started to move from cash games to Sit n Go's as you know Dodgey and have had a nice bit of success. I intend to drop cash games and only play them if I don't have time for a SnG (at least 1 hour is needed). If you do a search on Sharkscope.com for the username "TrueForm 5" on the Full Tilt network, you'll see I have now played 46 of them (ranging from $5 to $20) and I have made $171 (yes, I have recently moved up again to the $20 level). My form is rated as 'Hot'. hehe (I couldn't find any info on Dodgey101)

So, if I had to give advise I would say go down the SnG route, but I know you have already tried that at FT and didn't have any success. So if you going down the cash table route, I would recomend the Limit tables. I found these a lot less damaging if you get a bad beat and players tend to be a lot looser because it's cheap to call. The downside is that you may get drawn out on more often because the pot odds are usually favourable so 'chasing' calls are often made.

Whatever route you take, just look on this period as the downswing that every poker player gets and try not to lose confidence in your ability. Things will pick up again and I am sure you will be back to winning ways soon

I'm dodgey99 on FT -! (i always take 101, 99 or plain Dodgey if it's free)

Tried 3 more SNGs on FT - 4th in all of them! Last one lasted over one and half hours and I was chip leader for most of it. Lasted so long it became a contest of who could steal the most blinds. Dangerous game which I'm fairly new to.

Lost some on the 10.25c so im sticking to 5/10c until I get back in my groove.

I'm so jealous mate - when I was on my roll I had just moved up to $20 SNGs and got 4th on my 1st attmpt. Not bad.

Gonna stick to small money ring games untill I nail the correct aggression level - fairly sure that's my issue :-) Maybe I just had a flukey run on PP that boosted my ego a little too far lol. Took 50$ to 200$ in SNGs in no time at all.

Now.. gonna look up my aweful record on FT.... hehe

Edit: Lmfao! "Super tilt"
